Diving and Synchronized swimming

Sundhöll Reykjavíkur ("The Swimming Palace of Reykjavík")

The 25m meter charismatic indoor swimming pool will be perfect for hosting the diving and synhronized swimming. The pool is situated down town Reykjavik and was built in 1937. It includes private changing facilities, two outdoor hot tubs and a steam bath. It is a bright and friendly facility loaded with history and character. This gorgeous pool is a testimony of Icelands most prostegious Icelandic architect, Guðjón Samúelsson who also created the National Theatre building and main building of University of Iceland. The pool was Iceland´s first indoor pool and a great ...for a comunity that wasn´t so keen on taking regular baths.

The pool is 4,0m at its deepest end and 1,10m in its shallowest. Since this is the deepest pool in the Reykjavik area the synchronized swimming will be held there in 125 square meters (1345.5 square feet). We realize that this is smaller than the ideal synchronized swimming area, but we will make up for it with great atmo and lots of fun. We will have special spectator seats built over a part of the pool so that more people can come and see. Iceland has never before seen a competition of synchronized swimming on a professional level, and we are excited to introduce this aquatic sport to the Icelandic public. Partisipants are requested to send their music to syncro@igla2012.org at least one week prior to the meet, and we´d be happy to answer any other questions you might have as well.

SundHoll

There are two diving boards in Sundhöllin. One is 1m and the other one is 3m. Just like synchronized swimming, Iceland has never before seen a diving competition before. We detect quite an excitement in our community about the events in Sundhöllin and we believe that the events there will be ones to remember. Divers are requested to send their diving numbers to diving@igla2012.org, as well as any other questions or if they just want to say hi.
